People mostly underestimate the greatness of a well made home made pizza. Generally, people think that the take a great deal of time to produce, are messy and generally not worth the amount of effort. I beg to differ! Home made pizza can be healthy (when made right!) is cheap, easy and beats any take out or restaurant pizza. And lets not even talk about those frozen ones you find in the supermarket.

Once upon a time, I was only of those people I just talked about. No way would you find me "slaving away" in the kitchen producing a pizza from yeast through to topping. Surely getting a take out pizza would be just as good right? Wrong! Wolfing down a pizza fresh out of a gas or other specialty pizza oven is second to none.

The best part is that you can customise a home made pizza completely to your own tastes. You can spent as much or as little time on it as you like. For example, you can buy the bases and make up your own toppings, or make even the base from scratch. With that said, note that making your own base is always much, much better than buying one - but you can still opt for the supermarket ones if you like. The topping allows for a practically unlimited number of combinations. With a vareity of cheeses, meats, vegetables and whatever you think will work, you can be sure you will find something that satisfies your tastes.

Then theres the oven - even more choice. There are so many pizza ovens on the market you probably won't know which one to choose. The first thing to consider is your requirements. If you plan on making pizza once every couple of months in your kitchen, you aren't going to want to build a brick wood fired pizza oven in your back yard. If you are a pizza fanatic, you probably want a bit more than a pizza stone in your conventional kitchen oven. Maybe after a few attempts in a small oven, you will end up wanting to build your own, so beware.

For the most part, the best pizzas are made in a wood fired oven, then a gas oven and lastly electric pizza ovens. That is not to say that electric pizza ovens do not make a good pizza. There are many electric variants that will still produce amazing results. Bear in mind that wood fired ovens can take some extra skill in cooking the pizza evenly. Electric ovens give you direct control over top and bottom elements so you can cook it exactly to your taste.

Hopefully with all this choice you don't end up confused. Just start out simple. Perhaps purchase a simple pizza stone and use it in your conventional kitchen oven. If you like, move on up and find pizza ovens for sale. It should be clear by now that home made pizza is simply amazing, and is worth spending the time on. With thousands of recipes available, you will never get bored. Then, as you get better at pizza making, you can tweak recipes and even make your own from scratch.
